Pottery Care
How to care for your pottery
Stoneware Use and Safety Guidelines:
Handwashing is recommended to help preserve the quality and longevity of your stoneware pottery.Your pottery is safe for use in the dishwasher, microwave, conventional oven, and freezer.
Do not place your stoneware directly on stovetop elements. Doing so may cause the pottery to break or become damaged, potentially resulting in burns, cuts, or injury from broken pieces. Avoid exposing your pottery to extreme temperature changes. For example, do not transfer it directly from a hot oven to the freezer, or from the freezer into a hot oven.
Important Safety Information
Handmade stoneware may break if dropped, mishandled, placed directly on a stovetop element, or exposed to sudden extreme temperature changes. Do not use pottery that is cracked, chipped, or damaged. Please follow these care instructions to help ensure safe use.Handmade French Butter Keeper

How a French Butter Keeper Works
A French butter keeper, also known as a butter crock, keeps butter soft, fresh, and spreadable without refrigeration. Softened butter is packed into the hollow lid, then gently inverted into the base, which holds cool water. This creates a natural seal that helps preserve freshness while keeping butter ready to enjoy. How to Use
- Pack softened, room-temperature butter firmly into the crock, removing any air pockets.
- Fill the base with about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of cold water, or as needed.
- For crocks with holes in the lid stem, add enough water to cover the stem without overflowing.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the water, if desired, to help discourage mould.
- Invert the crock into the base.
- Store on the counter away from heat and direct sunlight.
- Change the water every 2–3 days, or daily in warm weather.
- Wash and dry both pieces thoroughly before refilling.
- Wipe away any butter from the outside of the lid stem.
- Keep crumbs and food residue out of the butter.
- Use butter in small portions within 7–14 days.
Care & Mould Prevention
For best results, soften the butter to room temperature before packing.
